What to expect at GBC
Visiting a church for the first time is not always easy. At Grace we want your visit to be as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Here are a few questions that may come to mind when you think about attending a Sunday morning service:
What should I wear? We believe God looks at the heart, not our clothes, so we encourage you to wear whatever is comfortable. You will find the full range of dress at Grace. Some come dressed in their “Sunday best” while others come in jeans or casual pants.
What is the service like? Our services begin at 10:00 am with Sunday School for all ages and then the general worship service starting at 11:00. A welcome and a few weekly announcements start the service. This is usually followed by a time of worship through singing and prayer. We sing a combination of contemporary worship music as well as long loved hymns of the Christian faith. Most weeks we spend some time sharing and then praying specifically for our joys as well as struggles. For approximately 20 to 30 minutes our pastor will speak based on a section of verses from the Bible. The “sermon” is geared toward where we live each week and leaves us with a challenge as well as encouragement in our walk of faith.
What about my children? Preschool children meet with their families in the first half of the worship service. Just prior to the pastor’s sermon they are escorted to a time with age appropriate learning.
Will I be singled out? The short answer is no! You will be welcomed prior to the service by our ushers and after the service by the people of the church. You will not be asked to stand and introduce yourself.
Will I be asked for money? Opportunity is given each week for those who regularly attend Grace to give. We do not ask or expect our guests to give. Whether you give something is up to you.
